SELKIRK LAKE CAMPGROUND RULES
THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE FOR THE BENEFIT OF EVERY RESIDENT LIVING IN SELKIRK LAKE CAMPGROUND. ANY PERSON VIOLATING THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS WILL BE ASKED TO VACATE THE CAMPGROUND.
SEASON
Season runs May 1st
to Sep. 30th. Of each year: The
park will be closed at any time after Sept 30th of each year.
Rates & Payments
Rates for sites vary and
can be confirmed by contacting management, contact information on the last page
of this document. Rent must be received by management by May 5th or a $40
PER DAY late charge will be enforced.
NEW THIS YEAR: Payments may be in the form of cashier’s check, bank money order
or personal check made out to
(LLC once established)_and sent
in the self-addressed stamped envelope included with the rules.
BAD WEATHER
No refunds will be given for any weather related
problems.
RETURNED CHECKS
There will be
a $40 processing fee for all returned checks PLUS any
fees charged to the business.
UTILITY HOUSE KEYS
One key will be issued to you. A
$15.00 security deposit per key will be assessed and returned when camping spot
is permanently surrendered. A $15 non-refundable fee will be charged per key for
replacement or additional keys.
VISITORS
A campsite is limited to one camping unit and one family
consisting of up to two adults and all children 17 years old or
younger living at home at that time. There will be a $20.00 per night charge
for any additional tent that is on your lot. Extra tents must be pre-approved.
Any guest that is age 16 years or older visiting and staying overnight on your
lot will be charged $5.00 per night. The campsite is only for the use of
the family that rented it. No subletting of your camper is
permissible.
No persons allowed at the campsite without an adult that rented the site present and are subject to the $5.00 fee if staying overnight. Do not leave a minor (under 16) in campground without an adult chaperone. Any violation of this rule is grounds for dismissal.
NEW THIS YEAR: Any guests with a boat must have the boat registered in advance with management. Guests may bring a boat or water vehicle during a visit but must be put in at the public landing and may not be left behind when leaving for home. If a guest has paid for an overnight stay, their boat may be docked at the resident’s dock as long as there is a safe distance between the next boat.
SELLING OF A TRAILER
Upon permanent departure (vacancy from the lot), the
lot will be offered to the next individual on OUR waiting list. Rental or sale
of trailer on the lot is not transferable to anyone including family members
unless next on our wait list.
WAITLIST
NEW THIS YEAR: Those already in the campground will be subject to the wait list as all newcomers except for a one time move to an open spot. Once a move of a current camper has taken place, if another move by that same person is desired, they will be put on the bottom of the list and await an empty spot. Wait list requests including specific spots are based on the date requested as of the posting of this document.
QUIET HOURS
Please observe the quiet hours between 11:00 PM and
8:00 AM. Hours are extended to 12 Midnight on July 4th. All radio,
television and stereo volumes must be kept low. All minors must be at
their own site at quiet hours.
BEHAVIOR
Inappropriate behavior such as loud
and/or vulgar language and/or drunkenness is strictly prohibited. Guests
evicted for violating property or rules will forfeit any money paid and will
have to have permission to return in the future.
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
Each camper must have a fire extinguisher for their
own safety. There are three park fire extinguishers. One is located at each end
of the campground, and one is in the laundry room. Please make yourself
aware of their locations for quick response to fire hazards.
SITE CLEAN UP
The space under and around your camper is to be always
kept clean. Your lot is to be kept mowed and free of unsightly growth and
debris. Winter and spring cleanup is to be COMPLETED BY MEMORIAL DAY OF EACH
YEAR. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. Management will hire the cleaning of lots
at the expense of the camper if not done by the above said date. Campsites must
also be kept up during the season. Violation will result in first time:
warning, second time: assessed a $50.00 fee.
All leaves, limbs, and compostable debris MUST be disposed of across the street
from the farmhouse in a marked area. NO EXCEPTIONS! Absolutely NO DUMPING OF
THESE ITEMS IN THE DUMPSTER! Violators will be assessed a $50.00 fee and may
be asked to surrender their campsite. Everyone must take care of their own
rubbish. THERE WILL BE NO BURNING OF LEAVES IN THE CAMPGROUND. Please
check your site daily for rubbish and clutter when departing for the day.
CAMPER WASHING
Campers may be washed during the hours of 10:00AM to
12:00 Noon and 2:00PM to 4:00 PM. There will be no washing of automobiles, boats,
or any transport vehicle. The camper must be kept clean and free of mold and
dirt and looking nice.
SKIRTING
Seasonal campers may not have skirting or permanently
attached rooms per Michigan State Law.
PORCHES & PATIOS
Porches are allowed. Patios/decks
may be built with the approval of management. PATIOS MUST BE REMOVABLE. This
means no concrete foundations allowed. All structures must be free standing
above grade. Please see the MI-DEQ
rules about this issue.
TOTE TANKS
Tote tanks may be dumped during hours of 9am to 12
Noon, 1pm to 6pm, and 8 to 11 pm. EXPANDABLE SEWER HOSES MUST BE USED
AND stuck into the dump station inlet. NO OPEN DUMPING OF TOTE TANK
CONTENTS. You are responsible to clean the dumping station area IMMEDIATELY
following use.
SEWER HOOK UPS
There will be no maintenance or replacement of the
current sewer system to those campsites with sewer hookup.
CLOTHES LINES
No cutting into, injuring or defacing of live trees.
All clothes lines can be tied from tree to tree. NO OBJECTS MAY
PENETRATE INTO THE TREES
LAUNDRY
Laundry facilities are available in
the campground utility house. These are coin operated. Campers are responsible
for detergent and any other laundry needs including coins to operate the
machines.
MAINTENANCE
All equipment in the campground
should be in working order. Please report any inoperative equipment to management.
Every reasonable effort will be made to promptly repair. No refunds will be
made for inoperative equipment, appliances, or their mechanical failure.
ENTRY INTO CAMPSITE OR PROPERTY
Entry
into campsite or property may be necessary from time to time by authorized/emergency
personnel. Every effort will be made to minimize these entries connected with
repair, care, and maintenance of the property.
CONSTRUCTION
Management is not responsible for
any construction that may be occurring near or in the campground. No
compensation or moves to other properties will be considered.
DAMAGE
Do not intentionally destroy, deface,
impair or remove any part of the property, equipment, furniture or furnishings
in or around the campgrounds.
SPEED LIMIT
All vehicles operated within the park must observe a
5-mph speed limit. This is for the safety of everyone in the campground. There
will be no riding of bikes, skateboards, and toys on the hill into the
campground on Raymond Blvd. Bicycles, skateboards, and scooters are to observe
the speed limit and not be a threat to other campers or their property. They
are not to be ridden after dark. PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR THE LITTLE
CHILDREN AND REMINED VISITORS TO DRIVE SLOWLY. Visitors violating this rule
will be asked to leave for the safety of our campers.
PARKING
Due to the increased size of campers and automobiles
and to decrease traffic in the park, one car will be allowed per site. All
other vehicles may be parked in front of the barn and by the farmhouse on the grass
but remain at least 50 feet from the barn. Renters with motorcycles need
to arrangement parking with management.
Vehicle repairs and other unsightly projects in the campground will not be allowed (without permission from management.)
VEHICLE REGISTRATION
All vehicles including boats, pontoons, jet skis, golf
carts/side by side, motorcycles and trailers MUST BE REGISTERED with
management. See form on the last page of this document. All motorized vehicles
driven in campground must be currently licensed and insured. Only fill out new
paperwork if items have changed registrations or new items obtained.
RECREATIONAL VEHICLES
All-terrain vehicles are not allowed on
the campground property. Violators
will be charged a fee of $50 per occurrence and the vehicles will be towed at
the guest’s expense.
GOLF CARTS
You are welcome to bring your golf
cart/side by side to travel on the driveways owed by the Campground. Please do
not drive on Raymond Drive in the mobile home park. Stay on driveways and drive
at a slow, safe, and obey speed limit signs. Please be aware of Allegan
County laws regarding these vehicles. All golf carts driven in the park are to
be operated by an adult or person with a valid driver’s license. Operation of
golf cart is done at your own risk.
PROPANE CYLINDERS
All bottled gas cylinders are to be placed on the outside of
the camper at least five feet from the entrance, securely fastened and
adequately protected from the weather. The STATE OF MICHIGAN requires securing
of cylinders.
WATER HOSES AND ELECTRICAL CORDS
The Department of Environmental Quality requires all
water hose and electric cords that are not rated for burial must be above
ground and visible by inspection.
ELECTRICITY USE
If your site has an electric meter, electricity will
be charged according to Consumers Power rates with added surcharges and fees
calculated by kilowatts. Meters will be read, and campers will be billed at
the end of the season. Electric bills will be mailed to each camper and payment
will be expected within 30 days of bill sent. Failure to pay the bill in 30
days will result in a $30.00/month and/or 1$/day. If you feel your meter is not
working correctly, please contact management. Some meters have been replaced.
GARBAGE DISPOSAL
Garbage is to be disposed of in a tied plastic bag and
placed in the dumpster within the park. If cleaning fish, please put them in 2
tightly sealed plastic bags and dispose of them in the approved garbage
containers. NO BURYING OF FISH REMAINS IN THE WOODS. All large items
including furniture and mattresses MUST be taken to a waste disposal
area at your place of permanent residence. ANYONE CAUGHT DUMPING LARGE ITEMS
OR RUBBISH FROM HOME IN THE PARK DUMPSTER WILL BE ASKED TO SURRENDER THE
CAMPING SITE.
OUTDOOR FIRES
Please use designated space for making a campfire.
Please pay attention to fire restrictions prior to starting any fire. Do not
make a large fire that can cause damage to nearby property. Before leaving the
area pour water on all fires, to ensure they are completely out. Management is
not responsible for damage, destruction or injury due to fire.
FIRE ARMS/BOWS
Discharge of firearms, paint ball guns or air guns is NOT
allowed in the campground without permission.
SERVICE BUILDING
Please accompany small children 10 years old and
younger to the restroom. THIS IS NOT A PLAYROOM. There will be
absolutely NO SMOKING or vaping in restroom or laundry room.
SWIMMING
There is swimming at your own risk. Please pay
attention to the rules posted. NO SMOKING, VAPING, OR GLASS
CONTAINERS within the beach area.
ATTN: NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY
No swimming after dark
No Swimming off or near the boat docks on the sites
next to the beach.
No playing on swim area marker buoys.
No throwing debris, rocks, etc., in the lake
No fishing in the swimming area
No boats or jet skis in the swim area
Do not use flotation devices outside the buoyed area.
No children in swim area unattended
An adult must supervise all minors (under 16) in the swimming area.
BOATS
Please be aware of Michigan DNR and Selkirk
Lake specific boating laws. There is a public boat landing on the south
end of the lake. NO WAKE FROM 7:30 PM to 11:00 AM. Traffic goes counterclockwise.
Do NOT stop in or block the narrows between the lower and
upper sections of the lake.
BOAT DOCK
Please share docks with another camper as space is
limited for those not camping on the lake shore. Please be a good neighbor. All
docks are to be kept in a safe condition. This is the responsibility of the
camper. Please keep dock area free from debris and excess weeds.
BOAT TRAILERS
All boat trailers must be taken home or may be stored across
from the main house in the woods with permission. Please do not leave any boat
trailers or vehicles on the grass by the barn during the week during lawn
maintenance. The campground is not liable for any damage occurring while on the
property. Trailers left on campground property must be registered my
management. ALL boat trailers must be off of the campground property by
October 1.
DOMESTIC ANIMALS
Pets are NOT allowed to run loose. This is a State
of Michigan Law. Animals must always be always tied or on a six foot or less
leash while outside the camper. Tenants with loud pets will be asked to remove
the animal from the premises. No animals are allowed in the swimming
area, tied to trees, or any electrical or water outlets. You may walk your pets
along 127th Ave. Dispose of all feces and containers used to collect
waste in the campground dumpster. Violations of these rules will include dismissal
from the park.
NEW THIS YEAR: For the safety of our residents and guests, we must have documentation and photo of all pets in the campground including rabies vaccines.
SMOKING
Please dispose of cigarettes accordingly. Do not
drop them in the campground.
GROUP GATHERINGS
Daytime group gatherings will incur an additional
charge and must be approved by management. Charge will depend on number of
guests and determined at that time.
AREAS, COTTAGE & MOBILE-PARK
Rules may vary for geographic areas such as the
mobile home park and cottages.
Selkirk Lake Campground is not responsible for loss, stolen items or
damage to persons or property while on the premises. The principal camper is
responsible for their camping family and all guests.
FIREWORKS
"consumer
fireworks" or "1.4G." May be set off with
permission from management. ADULT SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED. NO FIREWORKS
NEAR THE BARN. INDIVIDUALS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEAN UP OF THE AREA AND
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY OR PERSON.
WINTER STORAGE
There is a
one-time non-refundable storage fee of $200.00 due with the season’s rent
payment if not already paid. The camper is responsible for any loss or
damage to campers left on a lot during winter. If the camper wishes to
remove their camper for the winter but plans to return, management must be notified
to retain the spot for the following season. If we do not hear from you by April
1st of the coming year, the camping spot will be surrendered and
given to the next person on OUR wait list.
ITEMS LEFT BEHIND
Please double check sites for personal items prior to permanent or seasonal departure. All returned items will be sent C.O.D.
COMMUNICATION
NEW THIS YEAR: Out of respect for our individual employment and
schedules, please allow 48 hours for response to general texts, emails, and
phone calls or anything not urgent/emergent. With this said, we will try our
best to get back with you as soon as possible. If urgent/emergent issues arise
please use the contact information below.

· Campers and guest that fail to follow the rules will either be asked to leave or be removed from the premises. Without refund!

is not warranted.
WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS
Any exceptions to the above-mentioned policies must be
approved in writing in advance.
